Quality control in the foundry industry plays a key role in ensuring the production of reliable metal castings. Using advanced testing techniques, careful inspections and continuous process improvement, foundry quality control ensures that every casting is free of defects, has optimal mechanical properties and exhibits exceptional dimensional accuracy.

Chemical composition

To ensure the superior quality of our cast iron, we use a number of advanced evaluation techniques. The quality control process includes a careful assessment of the chemical composition of SPECTROMAXx cast iron. Using state-of-the-art optical emission spectrometry, we can accurately verify that our cast iron materials meet the strictest industry standards.

Metallographic analyses

In addition to chemical analysis, we perform thorough metallographic analyzes of cast iron using OLYMPUS PME3 microscopes. This allows us to gain deep insight into the microstructure of the material, ensuring that any potential defects or irregularities are immediately identified and addressed.

Mechanical values

Testing the mechanical values of our cast iron is another integral part of our quality control procedures. We consistently measure basic mechanical properties, including tensile strength and hardness. In this way, we can guarantee that our products have the required strength and durability and meet the requirements of even the most demanding applications.

Shape and dimensional accuracy

We use precision measuring instruments such as MITUTOYO’s Crysta Apex C to further verify the quality of our cast iron products. This allows us to assess the accuracy of shape and dimensions with the utmost precision and ensure that each product meets the specified specifications and requirements.

Casting simulation

At GIFF a.s. we understand the importance of simulation in the production process. That’s why we use QuikCAST, a cutting-edge casting and solidification simulation tool. This simulation allows us to analyze and optimize the casting process, which leads to increased efficiency, reduced defects and an overall improvement in product quality.
