Our focus on quality is also reflected in strict adherence to established technological procedures and careful supervision of all production stages. Thanks to this systematic approach, we have successfully maintained our ČSN EN ISO 9001:2016 certification.
Quality control in the foundry industry is an absolutely key element in ensuring the reliability and service life of metal castings and in maintaining our certification. Through advanced testing methods, thorough in-process inspections and continuous process optimization, we therefore guarantee that every casting leaves our production free of internal defects, with optimal mechanical properties and excellent dimensional accuracy.
To reliably verify the first-class composition of the molten metal, we use modern analytical facilities. The quality control process includes a detailed spectrometric analysis of the melt using the SPECTROMAXx instrument. Thanks to this advanced optical emission spectrometry, we can determine the content of individual elements very precisely and guarantee that the chemical composition of our cast iron fully meets the prescribed quality standards.
In addition to chemical composition, we also regularly carry out detailed metallographic analyses of the structure using an OLYMPUS PME3 metallographic microscope. This evaluation gives us detailed insight into the material’s microstructure and graphite morphology, allowing us to immediately detect any deviations and maintain consistent metallurgical quality.
Regular testing of mechanical parameters is another essential part of the procedures required by our certification. We therefore systematically measure the basic strength characteristics, above all tensile strength and Brinell hardness. This allows us to reliably verify that the castings we produce have exactly the mechanical properties our customers require, even for the most demanding operating conditions.
For detailed verification of geometry, we also use state-of-the-art Crysta-Apex C coordinate measuring technology from MITUTOYO. This modern 3D coordinate measuring machine enables us to evaluate geometric and dimensional accuracy with maximum precision and to guarantee that every part fully conforms to the drawing documentation.
At the same time, GIFF a.s. places great emphasis on preventing defects as early as the production preparation stage. For this reason, we actively work with QuikCAST simulation software, which is used for precise modeling of mold filling and casting solidification. Virtual simulations help us optimize gating systems in good time, prevent shrinkage cavities and continuously increase both yield and production quality.
Last but not least, long-term customer satisfaction is our top priority. In addition to standard inspection plans, we respond flexibly to individual requirements and, as needed, provide specific additional tests, measurements or customized inspection certificates beyond what certification requires, so that all of our customers’ expectations are fully met.
